The short and simple answer to whether EMF protection clothing is effective in shielding you and you loved ones from the effects of electromagnetic field radiation is some items are, and some aren’t. But then, you probably suspected that. What you want to know is which are, and which aren’t. And so did I. That’s why I researched various company’s products and now am sharing my findings with you.

Attenuation

One word, attenuation, was ubiquitous, appearing over and over again. It’s one of those words we think we know the meaning of, or perhaps have figured out, but can’t really define. So, for the sake of clarity, and just to make sure we’re all on the same page when it comes to understanding the comparative effectiveness of competing brands of clothing. I looked the word up and found it had two definitions. The first is “reduction of the effect, value,or force of something”. And the second is “the reduction in amplitude of a wave, oscillation, or electric current”. The second definition is the key in our research into which clothing is most effective.

EMF Protection Clothing to the Rescue

It used to be that ELF, or extremely low frequency radiation, was the only harmful form of radiation. And we thought we could avoid its effects by staying away from power lines. Then we learned that appliances that use AC current like vacuum cleaners and refrigerators were also ELF emitters which proved less possible to avoid. In fact it proved to be virtually impossible.

But ELF was nothing compared to what technology had in store for us – the double edged sword known as Wi-Fi. Smartphones, smart TVs, smart thermostats, doorbells, speakers, fitness trackers, even gas meters, everything is smart today. But we can be smarter and not buy into them. We can find ways around Wi-Fi doesn’t mean we have to be troglodytes we can use cables to connect to the internet; do more texting and less talking, or if we must talk, use speaker phone or a wired headset.

Still, we can take all those precautions but it doesn’t guarantee we’ll be in the clear. Every time we leave our “dumb” homes, we risk walking into EMF – at work, in coffee shops where fellow patrons are using laptops, on the train where commuters are either talking on their phones or watching videos. But now there’s another way to avoid electromagnetic radiation – wear EMF protective clothing – the higher the attenuation level, the better.

The Advantages of EMF Protection Clothing

One of the great things about EMF protection clothing is is it’s unobtrusive. It doesn’t broadcast EMF protection going on here. So if for any reason, you don’t want anyone to know you’re wearing it, it will keep your secret.

Another advantage is if you can’t afford to buy an entire wardrobe of EMF protection clothing, which can be quite pricey, you can pinpoint the area of your body you
wish to protect. Of course, this presupposes you know the dangerous effects of EMF on specific areas of your body:

  • If you want to avoid the changes in brain chemistry, brain structure and the weakening of the blood/brain barrier, you can wear an EMF-protective hat.
  • If you’re concerned that EMF has been shown to cause heart tumors in rats, even though further research is required to establish the connection in humans, you can look into clothing that provides year-round protection – parkas, vests, tank tops, and t-shirts.
  • If you’re a woman of child-bearing age, or a man concerned with the effect of cellphone usage on sperm count, you can make sure never to carry your phone in your pocket plus you can wear EMF protection underwear.
  • And if you ‘re already pregnant, there are protective blankets you can drape over your precious cargo when sitting or sleeping.

And when the baby arrives, there are baby blankets to protect her body. And since baby’s skull, soft in order to pass through the birth canal, can take another 9 – 18 months become hard enough to achieve the natural shielding capacity of adult skulls, there are baby beanies to protect her skull.

But before we tell you about some specific brands and types of EMF protection clothing we came across, let’s look at the mechanics of EMF protection.

How EMF Protection Clothing Turns Back Radiation

Most EMF protection clothing has two layers, a fabric outer layer and an inner layer composed of a tightly knit or woven conductive material that acts as an electromagnetic shield. Since radiation cannot pass through holes smaller than its wavelength, the conductive layer displaces the charged electrons, reflecting radiation back through the outer layer to disperse in the air instead of entering into your body. The percentage of radiation deflected is the attenuation rate we previously discussed.

Scientific research has shown that textiles lined with silver provide effective shielding and so, many articles of EMF protection clothing have silver nanoparticles woven into their conductive layer. However, copper, long used in electrical wiring, also dampens or attenuates harmful frequencies. Whether copper or silver provides better shielding depends on the particular frequencies involved. As a result, manufacturers of protective clothing offer a variety of fabrications. Some woven with silver, some with copper, and yet others with both, all blended into traditional polyester, cotton or nylon fabrics.

Its attenuation rate is expressed in terms of decibels, reflecting the fabric’s effectiveness in reducing the radiation wave’s amplitude and thus its ability to break through the conductive layer of the garment. A Few Final Words

Technology evolves at breakneck speed, making it virtually impossible to escape its harmful physical and neurological effects. Those concerned can seek shelter in EMF protection clothing. If you’re serious about halting the headaches, nausea, fatigue, nervousness, and other effects of EMF radiation you’ve been experiencing, products like those described in this review can be your refuge from the storm. But caveat emptor. Always conduct your own research and never take manufacturer’s claims at face value.
